About Dr. Jacqueline Bracken

Specialist Orthodontist

BA, BDentSc (TCD), MFDS (RCSEd), MOrth (RCSEd), DClinDent (UCC),

Dr. Jacqueline Bracken is a qualified specialist orthodontist with a passion for creating confident, healthy smiles. Jackie began her career as a general dentist, setting up her first dental practice in 2007, just two years after graduating. It was during this time that she discovered a particular interest in teeth straightening and the life-changing results it can achieve for patients.

Driven by this passion, Jackie went on to complete three years of full-time specialist training in orthodontics. She was awarded a Clinical Doctorate in Orthodontics with Honours from University College Cork, as well as Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Jackie is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care, combining advanced clinical expertise with a friendly and supportive approach. She takes pride in tailoring treatment to suit each patient’s individual needs, helping them achieve their best possible smile.

What is a Specialist Orthodontist?

A specialist orthodontist is a fully qualified dentist who has completed several additional years of full-time postgraduate training focused solely on the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of irregularities of the teeth and jaws. This advanced training ensures they have the expertise to manage everything from simple cases to complex bite and alignment issues. Choosing a specialist orthodontist for your treatment is important because it gives you the confidence that your care is in the hands of someone with the highest level of skill and experience in straightening teeth and improving dental function. A specialist can offer a wider range of treatment options, tailor care to your specific needs, and help you achieve safe, effective, and long-lasting results.

Our Services

At Orthodontics by Jackie, we offer two effective ways to straighten your teeth: fixed braces and aligners.

Fixed Braces

All Age Groups

Fixed braces consist of small brackets attached to the teeth and linked by a wire, which gently guides your teeth into the correct position over time.

Aligners

Available for Over 18s Only

Clear aligners are a removable alternative to fixed braces. Custom-made to fit your teeth, aligners work by gradually moving them into place through a series of virtually invisible trays. They are available for patients aged 18 and over. When planned and monitored by a trained specialist orthodontist, aligners can achieve the same results as fixed braces. However, because aligners can be removed, their success depends on your commitment to wearing them as instructed for 22 hours per day. Consistency and discipline are key to ensuring the treatment works effectively.

Orthodontic Appliances

Young Kids 8 +

For some younger patients, treatment with orthodontic appliances such as expanders or growth appliances may be needed in addition to braces. These appliances help guide jaw development, create space for adult teeth, and address bite issues at the right stage of growth. Whether this is

needed will be carefully evaluated during the consultation process, and all options will be discussed with you in detail before treatment begins.

What age to come for a consultation?

We recommend bringing your child for a consultation from around age 8. This gives Jackie the opportunity to assess how their teeth and jaws are developing and to advise on the best time to begin treatment.

Some children may be ready to start treatment at any stage, while others might benefit from early use of orthodontic appliances such as expanders or growth appliances which are most effective during the growth period (typically up to age 12 in girls and age 13 in boys).

In other cases, early (or interceptive) orthodontic treatment may be recommended. Interceptive treatment is usually carried out between the ages of 8 and 10. It focuses on guiding jaw growth and creating space for the adult teeth as they come through. This can involve appliances such as expanders or removable braces and helps reduce the need for more complex treatment later on.

Your child does not need to have lost all their baby teeth before coming in for an assessment.

For those in their late teens or adulthood, you can come for a consultation at any time to discuss your treatment options.

How to Contact Us -  WhatsApp or Email

WhatsApp or Email Only

We do not take phone calls. Instead, please contact us by WhatsApp or email during our working hours , we usually reply within a few minutes. All communication comes straight to our practice and is answered directly by our team.

Why do we do this?

We’ve chosen this approach so we can provide a faster, more efficient service. Many of our patients find it difficult to make or take calls during work or school hours. Messaging allows you to contact us at a time that suits you, without worrying about missing a call, waiting on hold, or calling back and forth.

It also means we can give you clear, thoughtful replies that you can read back at any time — no need to feel unsure about what was said during a call.

What if it’s urgent?

Thankfully, true emergencies in orthodontics are rare. If you have a broken brace or appliance, please send us a photo or video of the problem. This allows us to assess it quickly and provide the right advice to keep you comfortable and safe until a repair appointment can be arranged if needed. If you are extremely concerned about something, we will be happy to give you a call if requested.

As is the case with any service, our communication service is available during our working hours.
